I haven't done much sewing lately. Instead, I've been helping families find charitable homes for their loved one's stashes. I was contacted by another lady about her sister's stash. I was told it was a quilter, but when I picked everything up, it was almost all garment fabrics. Hmmm....what do I do with garment fabrics (lovely fabrics, but I don't sew clothing, and don't know anyone who sews clothes). Well, after asking two different groups of quilters, I found a home for everything. This afternoon, I took buttons to one lady, that will ...

I've never shown the blocks I finished while we were in Alaska. I finished 2 of the Angels Among Us blocks (August & September) except for the buttons, which I stitched on when we got back home. I've started the October block, but I haven't had much time to stitch on it.

I also made another block for the Women of the Bible quilt. This is the block for Esther. It is 15 inches square. I've now made 6 of the 40 blocks.

I had 2 different patterns for fabric chalkboards. I didn't really like either pattern, so I took the parts I liked and made some jumbo fabric chalkboards. I made 5 chalkboards, but 3 of these are for my grandkids.

I finished Autumn Chains, my king size quilt from the class I took in October. The quilter has done her part, and it's waiting for me to trim it and sew the binding on. That will be after Christmas. This quilt is for me. I will put it in my large quilt guild's quilt show in March.

On my last trip I found a new flannel Jelly Roll at an antique shop for a couple of bucks. I didn't realize that this Jelly Roll only had 18 strips (not the usual 40 strips). Still, it was cute fabric and I used it to make a small Jelly Roll Race quilt.

I bought some flannel yardage on Monday so that I can add borders and binding to this little quilt top. It will make a cute baby quilt for a boy. It's always nice to have a couple of baby ...
read moreSince my last blog post I've been on 2 more trips. The first trip was a vacation with extended family in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. We flew into Albuquerque and went up Sandia Peak. I hadn't been up Sandia Peak since I was a senior in high school.

We drove with hubby's brother and sister-in-law to Cloudcroft (where we met up with hubby's parents). While driving to Cloudcroft, we kept passing this overloaded van.

In my last blog post, I showed the 4 patch blocks I made using 1930's reproduction fabrics for a block exchange. Oops! I was supposed to use Civil War reproduction fabrics. Oh well, now I have blocks made for a future exchange. I pulled out some Civil War fabrics and made new (correct) blocks. I still have to sign and mail them.

read moreEvery year the Quilter's Dozen hand quilting group has a quilt show during Prairie Fest. I usually go to the quilt show just before I drive in the parade (I drive hubby's Barbershop chorus). This is a nice, but small quilt show. I took several photos for you (sorry for the angles, but it's a small space).
I know several of the ladies in this group, and some of the quilts are from ladies in my little quilt guild. I missed out on entering a quilt this year, since I had to work the day we had ...
read moreI've had a sad plastic cabinet in my sewing room, under my ironing board for several years now. It was leaning so bad that I couldn't even get in the drawers without lots of trouble.

Several months ago, I found some brand new mesh baskets at Salvation Army. It was only the baskets, no shelving unit to put the baskets in. I looked online, and the company is no longer in business. Well, hubby said he'd make me a cabinet to hold the baskets. Here is the cabinet he made for me.
